To celebrate Jake's first birthday, we took a trip to the Ft. Worth Zoo. We had heard that the zoo in Ft. Worth was fantastic, and it was! We had beautiful weather and everyone had a great time! Grandma and Grandpa Barber came with us, and the birthday boy enjoyed seeing all the animals.

Jake was looking at the otters and fish in the tank. There was also a huge alligator!

Jake spent most of the day like this - standing up in his stroller to get a better look at things. (Oh, and he had shoes on when we got there, but they were new sandals that didn't stay on well...)

The lion was probably the coolest thing we saw all day. He had four cubs on the other side of his area, and when we first approached him, he was just laying down right there in front of us. All of a sudden, he stood up, walked in a half circle, and let out a huge ROAR! He roared for a long time, maybe a minute, then did some stretching, and then laid back down. None of us had ever seen something like that before! Usually, zoo animals just kind of lie around not doing much, but we got lots of action from this lion!

Jillian and Jake looking down at the kangaroos! Both kids had a blast!
