Jake got a Gator on one cheek and a football on the other. Go Gators!
Next the kids strung beads on a string to make a necklace. Both kids wore their necklaces all afternoon. Aunt Cathy and Morgan were working at the necklace booth before we got there, so they had already made necklaces too.
Then the kids painted pictures of a deer (Jillian) and a polar bear (Jake).
Each kid potted a plant. Jillian was very excited about her plant. We left them both at Grandma Bob's house, and she's going to re-pot them in a Santa pot and give them back to us at Thanksgiving. Jillian can't wait!
Look at the size of that cow! The kids got chocolate milk at this tent.
While Jillian was listenting to a presentation at another exhibit, I took Jake to look at the highway patrol car. While he was waiting for another kid to finish, he looked at the car, pulled on my hand, and said, "I wanna ride on that!" So he got to sit in the front seat and talk to the highway patrolman and make the siren go. He LOVED it!
At the Habitat for Humanity tent, the kids decorated cookies shaped like houses. Sounds like a cute idea, right? It would have been, but they used way too much of the syrup on each cookie, and when the sprinkles went on, they just smeared. The ladies there put the cookies into a plastic bag for later, but when we pulled them out later, all the syrupy stuff and the sprinkles had slid right off the cookie. Jillian took one look at them and said, "those cookies are disgusting!"
While Jillian finished up her cookie decorating, Aunt Cathy took Jake back over to the highway patrol car. When Jillian and I got there, Aunt Cathy told me to look at Jake because she wanted me to take pictures. I told her I took some when he was sitting in the car earlier, and Aunt Cathy said, "that little stinker! He told me he didn't get to sit in there yet!" I guess Jake pulled a fast one over on Aunt Cathy!
And of course Jillian wanted a turn. You should have seen her face when she pressed the button for the siren! She giggled and grinned!
Yup, this really was just what it says. Gross.
The kids had a couple corn cobs that they had to toss into the toilet.
And when they did, they were able to get a prize. Candy. That they had to fish out of the toilet. GROSS.
After the festival, we decided to go to the Bicycle Rodeo sponsored by the Police Department, and then meet up with Grandpa Bob, Grandma Bob, and Uncle Mat for lunch.
