Campfire
Last weekend, Rick decided to have a bonfire and roast marshmallows and make s'mores. He told Jillian about it on Friday night and said we'd do it on Sunday night. She didn't forget either. She was excited about having a campfire. So Rick bought all the stuff, and we got ready for the campfire. Jake was all ready with his marshmallow - wearing his new helmet and everything!
First, we had dinner outside around the fire - hot dogs and macaroni and cheese.
But the kids were really mostly interested in the marshmallows. Here's Jillian, guarding the bag and getting them ready.
Jake learned real quick how to put the marshmallow on the stick.
And how to roast it in the fire. This boy LOVED roasting marshmallows! He'd keep them in the fire until they caught on fire, then he'd giggle while someone blew the fire out, and then he'd put it right back in. He thought it was great fun!
Jillian was not as impressed with the marshmallow roasting. She was having a hard time with the smoke getting in her eyes, so she didn't really want to sit too near the fire. So she made s'mores with unroasted marshmallows. She put them all together, even squishing the marshmallows down so she could fit the top graham cracker on. Of course, she had no interest in actually eating it. She made one for mommy and daddy though. And she ate the chocolate bars.
