GEORGE!

Well, we got a dog! We are now the proud owners of George, our little pound puppy. A few days after Christmas, we decided to go to the shelter to pick out a dog. We went online to the Plano Animal Shelter website, and picked out a few dogs we wanted to see. One, a little Jack Russell terrier, was cute as could be, but when we met him, he wasn't that interested in us. We saw a few other dogs, but weren't really satisified with any of them. Then we met George. He was so excited to see us - he jumped right up on Rick when he came in the room, and while we were visiting with him, he let the kids hold him, and he didn't bite when Jake gave him a treat and then took it back. So we knew he was the dog for us.

We couldn't take him home that day, because he had to get "fixed." So we went to the store and bought all the doggy supplies we'd need, and got the house ready. The next afternoon we went to pick him up. Both kids are in love!

We asked Jillian what she wanted to name the dog, and without any hesitation or deliberation, she said, "George." We gave her a few other options, but she wanted George. So George he is. She often calls him Georgie Rosie Wilson. And he's turned out to be the best dog - he puts up with a lot from the kids. Jillian gives him lots of "hugs," which are really more like headlocks, and Jake sits down with him while he eats his dinner, and picks at George's food. And as a bonus, he came potty trained, and after a brief adjustment period, he's gotten really great about only going outside.

We've been having a lot of fun taking George with us on our trips to the park, and spending lots of time playing with him. Jillian gets upset if we don't let George do something with us, or if we don't let him up on the couch or something. She'll say, "but George is our family too!" And she always shows him things when she's showing off - if she paints a picture, she makes sure to show it to George. We're all definitely happy with our new addition to our family!
