Happy Birthday Jake!

Well, its official! Jake is a 3 year old! We woke up on Jake's birthday and saw this on our driveway: Our neighbors, Laura and Lisa, did this the night before his birthday, and Jake was so excited when he saw it in the morning. What a great start to a birthday!

We had a party for Jake at home. All of the neighbor kids and their parents came. Grandma Lynne and Grandpa Rodney came too, and they brought Great-Grandma. We cooked hot dogs and hamburgers, and let the kids play outside while we were cooking and setting everything up.

Jake really loved the Spider Man table cloth. As soon as we put it on the table, he knew that the table was all for him!

After dinner, we put the pinata up in the tree and handed the kids a baseball bat! Jake went first, since it was his birthday.

We went in order of height next (which was also age order). Jake's friend Jameson was up next. He'll be three in August. The boys are so cute together. They're just starting to realize that they can play together, and they love to get a ball and kick it back and forth. They're adorable.
Up next: Jillian! Jayce is in the background, waiting his turn. He knew he'd be the one to break the pinata, so he waited, sort of patiently, while all the little kids took several turns at it.

We put that sheet down so that the candy would fall on the sheet and not get all dirty in the yard. That was a good idea (thanks, Laura!) in theory. But, when Jayce hit and broke the pinata, it was swinging up in the air, to the far right of the sheet. Most of the candy landed next to the sheet, and in the neighbor's yard. It didn't take long for the kids to get it all gathered up though!

Present time! Jake was so excited to open his presents!

Jake was so cute. He would open a present and actually take the time to look at it and admire it. Jillian would say, "okay, Jake, you got a train. Put it down and open THIS one!" She wanted him to just rush right through it!

Jillian and her friend Lisa helped me wrap the presents, so she knew what was in each one. Miss Bossy-Pants got to the point where she would hand Jake a present and say to Grandpa Rodney, who was sitting right beside Jake, "this is pajamas," or "this is a Go Gators shirt." I told her to stop telling Jake what was in his presents before he opened them, and she said, "mom. I'm not telling Jake, I'm telling grandpa!"

Getting some help from all his friends.

Time for the big one! Jake had been eyeing this one all night!

Yay! An electric four-wheeler! The neighbors bought this for Jake, and he LOVES it!

Uh, Dad? This thing would be easier to drive if I had some handlebars!
Jameson has the same four-wheeler, so they were getting ready to ride together.

Jillian's new best friends, Ryanne and Lisa.

And, they're off!

Cake time!

Jake blew out his candles, but didn't stick around long enough for me to cut the cake. While everyone else was eating cake, Jake was back on his four-wheeler with Jameson. He didn't come back for cake for at least a half hour! That's a long time for a little boy who LOVES cake!

Happy birthday, big boy!
